The WOD Collaborative Worldwide Organ Donation Data The Clinical Corner

Valérie has spent her career asking the same question in different languages — in the fly embryo, the trauma bay, the diabetic kidney, and now inside the organ donation system itself, where she works as a Certified Clinical Procurement Coordinator.

Two things have shaped how she asks it: the spirit of The Rockefeller University, where science exists in service of humanity and no question is too fundamental to pursue; and the spirit of the Human Frontier Science Program fellowship she was awarded, which taught her that the most important insights live at the borders between disciplines and countries, and that being a stranger to someone else’s field is a gift, not a gap.

She built this space out of a simple conviction: that the researchers, coordinators, and clinicians asking the same question from different angles belong in the same room — and that when they find each other, something changes. Fifteen peer-reviewed publications and a career built across institutions and disciplines later, this is her contribution to that change.
